A Wicked Wind This Way Blows
Another year has passed and the cold breezes have begun sending us inside to take refuge from the grasp of winter. The shortened days and lack of things to do outside are a negative for many, but a path to guilt free gaming for others. Though things have been quiet here without a central game to focus on, there are some interesting prospects that have appeared on the horizon. A concentrated effort will be forthcoming to select both a shooter and at least one RPG or MMO style title to build around for the future. There are a number of things that will change in the process of achieving that goal and to reshape Reaper's Bane as we prepare to enter our 7th year. Hopefully we can build from the foundation that exist and integrate that with the structure that will be necessary to expand for the years to come.
One of the things I am looking into is a migration for the site and supporting services. To facilitate some of the goals I have, some different software is likely to be needed. Though for a gaming portal this works well enough, there are some additions and customization, both visible and on the back end that could make it more useful. A big part of forming a community of gamers is providing a multitude of options here that will both bring members to a central location and continue to keep their attention while providing a hub for discussion. The opportunity to build around titles from the Call of Duty franchise, the upcoming juggernaut Diablo III and the long awaited sequel Guild Wars II could be exactly the formula needed for a successful and diverse spectrum of gaming offerings.
